Morale Scroll
A spoken rebuke that takes the will to fight out of a band, leaving them easier to hit.
The quest
The king's spellbook holds every spell he kept. A gremlin stole it, tore out every page and scattered them through this dungeon, so it comes up empty. Every page your party brings back puts its spells back, and the kingdom above wants the book whole.
The book holds 17 spells, one to a page. One leaf torn out of the king's spellbook, with a spell written on it. Every page of it is hidden somewhere down here. It weighs nothing and takes no pack space, and bringing one back puts it back in the book. A reader casts a spell from the book for mana alone, and the book is never used up; the same spell on a scroll costs half the mana and is gone once read.
Readers: King, Hero and Wizard.

A spoken rebuke that takes the will to fight out of a band, leaving them easier to hit.
A ward read over the party. The band it names misses more of its swings against you.
The reader's mind reaches through the walls and learns what waits ahead.
A burst of fire that fills the room. It burns every monster a little rather than one monster badly.
The floor under the named band turns sticky and holds them back, so they close on you more slowly.
A warm cover drawn over one person. Wounds heal under it, though deep ones only part of the way.
One bolt aimed at a single monster. It hits far harder than any spell spread across a whole band.
The reading speeds up everyone who hears it. They move and swing faster for as long as it lasts.
It strips a band's inborn resistance to magic, so the next spell lands instead of glancing off.
A spell of pure flattery. The band warms to the party and will listen to an offer of gold. A bribe it takes buys more.
The most dangerous spell in the book. It tears apart everything in the room at once.
It makes a band's special attacks far rarer, so the worst of a fight comes seldom.
The strongest healing in the book, read over one person. It does not always reach the last wound, and it cannot help the dead.
Spoken through a shut door. Something behind it is simply gone when the door opens.
A long quiet word spoken through the door. What waits behind it becomes something tamer.
It goes through the door ahead of the party and pushes what is inside to the walls farthest from it.
Spoken at the door. Whatever is behind it is still turning around when the door opens.
